The Vietnam Records Book Center has recognized coconut-made musical instruments by artisan Vo Van Bac in the southern Ben Tre Province as a national record.
It is said that the first person who had the idea of creating musical instruments from coconut is musician Le Dan from Ben Tre provincial Association of Literature and Arts.
From the idea, he created coconut musical instruments which were displayed at Coconut Festival in Ben Tre province in 2012. Since then, he has made about other 100 instruments. His mall house is the place where artists and artisans in the province come to admire the special musical instrument.
